Gandy Dancer Recreational Trail

The famous Gandy Dancer Recreational Trail is 98 miles long and pass through Danbury. This is an excellent groomed trail on an old railway line. Day passes are available at the Log Cabin Store in Danbury, WI. Maps can be found here.

About the Trail - Friends of Gandy Dancer State Trail

Road bike training clubs love to train in our county. Our roads are very well maintained, quiet with mixed terrain and scenic views. Bring your group out for a long weekend of training on our back country roads.

Fat tire bike fan? Bicycle and horseback riding are allowed on all Burnett County Forest roads, trails, and fire lanes. Riding off-trail is not permitted. These trails are found sporadically throughout our over 111,000 acres of Burnett County Forest Land.

Directly 45 minutes south of our rentals is the Timberland Hills Area which offers a 13-mile mountain bike trail system on Burnett County Forest Land. Additional trail construction is planned by the Timberland Hills Foundation to provide a total of 25 miles upon completion. In the wintertime, Timberland Hills offers a 4.4-mile trail for fat bikes, hiking, snowshoeing, and skijoring. This trail uses the county's existing tote road system.

Big Bear Lake Nature Trail is located only a little more than a mile from Lake 26 and approximately 9 miles east of Danbury, the Big Bear Lake Association maintains a 2-mile walking trail in the Town of Webb Lake. This trail consists of 3 loops which wind through Burnett County Forest Land, and includes educational signs at several points of interest along the trail. The trailhead has a parking lot located on Bear Lake Road approximately 2/10 of a mile north of Lake 26 Road.

Fort Folle Avoine is located just outside Danbury, WI. It is a an 80-acre Historical Fur Trading Post. www.theforts.org Check out their website for all of their activities and hours. There is always a lot going on at The Fort. The iconic fur trading rendez-vous reenactment takes place the last weekend of July.

Love to golf? Voyager Village 18-Hole Golf Course is a short 15-minute drive from the rentals. The following is a link to a list of all golf-courses in Burnett County, Wi.
